I thought I'd post a standalone of the superheroines featured in the sequence "Girl Power", along with two pics that didn't make it into the sequence. They included Wonder Woman, Spider Woman, Witchblade, Supergirl, Phoenix, Black Cat and Batgirl. Supergirl gave me the biggest trouble, as she originally came out looking too young. I went through several versions before settling on the one featured in"Girl Power".
I don't know if this is taboo in the American comic book fan world but Do you ever attempt to draw Masane Amaha from the witchblade anime as a alone sketch or something? It be pretty cool to see her in your pseudo-realistic style.
I've never seen the Witchblade anime character but, if she's anything like the American one, I bet she'd fun to draw.
You focus a little too much on the breasts.
Neat! (Funny, your Supergirl looks almost exactly like the girl who portrayed Supergirl at our comics shop on FCBD!)
Really? Which one (the first or second one)? Regardless, I consider that a compliment, indeed. For Supergirl, I was going for late teens/early 20's look.
Very cool! You do well with the ladies!!
Huh, she does look pretty young in this version there...
I would love to see the earlier versions ^^
I did quite a few versions of several of the characters, particularly Wonder Woman and Supergirl.
Excellent work, Zac!
You're right, the left Supergirl looks like a buxom 15 years old. I think it may be that her head looks bigger than the rest of her proportions, especially her arms and legs, and that's causing the young appearance. I could be totally wrong though.
Yes, I think it's the proportions that's giving her the young appearance, particularly the head. I wanted to go for a late teens/early 20's look but my first go at her was too young.
what is your drawing process like? from the looks of your figures you draw the outline shape and then shade inside. is that right?
Yes, that's pretty much it. I start with a light pencil outline, darken the lines and then shade the inside drawing.
