Description

Have you ever had an idea that was so dear to you that you kept tweaking it until you got it absolutely perfect? That's the case with my comic series, "Miss Doomsday".

As a few of you may have noticed, I haven't updated the comic since summer. Although I have a strong idea of what the comic's about, where it's going and how it ends, I've gone through Lord knows how many versions of the comic. It's so dear to me that I want to hit it right on the head and score a bullseye.

That's why I'm torn on the series. I'm not sure if I should go with what I have or try something new. Never confident on the series to begin with, a fellow critiqued it on Conceptart and I've been unable to continue drawing it ever since. This individual gave what I thought an intelligent review of the comic and, while he admitted the main character and the story setting and pace was not his cup of tea, he thought the art was possibly good.

I'm largely a ball of confusion with regards to my art, in general. I've often felt I'm mediocre, at best. But I do enjoy telling stories. Alas, that doesn't pay the bills.

The drawing above is one possibility of a cartoonier take on the characters and story, seen here: [link]

Hm, reading that I just have the urge to fly to the US, ring on your doorbell and kick you in the balls. I think you have a strong story, a strong heroine and really good artwork so I really would suggest that you just pull through. You may try a million approaches but in the end why should you? Tell your story even if it's not perfect. And don't listen to every intelligent review. George Lucas had dozens of very talented filmmakers telling him that Star Wars would suck but it didn't. People love Star Wars. And yet there are a million intelligent reviews out there that tell you that it's not good at all (and yes I talk about the old trilogy and yes it has flaw, so what?). There is always someone whining and unhappy. There are people who can give very intelligent arguments on why the iPhone sucks but so what? It sells, some (haha, some, a tiny tiny minority, hoho) people love it and some people see flaws in something overseen by a perfectionist that poured his heart into it. Don't think about postponing Miss Doomsday again and again until no one complains (cause that will never happen) and just keep going Zac. And look at sucessful people that didn't listen to the whining of others. You don't need to become a better artist you need to become a ballsier one that stays on course. I hope you just do it. If not I fly over and kick you ;)
