Opey: The College Years

As artists, we all have piles of drawings encompassing the span of our early years of producing art all the way to the present.  "Opey the Warhead" is a comic that I first formulated in college as part of an art assignment.  I just recently discovered this particular page while looking through the various geological layers of my art world.

I think this was about the third or fourth time I've ever drawn "Opey".   A few notes.  I was just beginning to draw and ink comic pages at this point and didn't know the proper proportions for comic pages.  Hence, the huge comic page you see here.  Also, I did my own lettering.  Ugh.  For the story prior to this comic page, Opey met Aria (the blond girl in this strip) for the first time and blew it big time in his introduction.  Opey had never seen a girl before and wound up insulting poor Aria.  Of course, Opey, ever the bright one, thinks his intro to Aria was a smash hit.  He goes home and tells his dad about the new girl at school and his father gives him advice about the art of romance.  Opey find's Aria's lost pet rhino, Ryan, and decides to try to return it to Aria's house, only to find her sleeping.  Of course, Opey manages to hash up the situation.
