Opey the Warhead Page 4 by cluedog Opey the Warhead Page 4 by cluedog
This is the fourth page of my webcomic "Opey the Warhead". This one introduces Opey's mother...or does it?

a character with no eyes, no nose, no mouth somewhat irritates me :P but its awesome !

Thanks. As an artist, it makes it a real challenge for me to convey exactly how Opey feels when he's a character with no face, but I think it's a worth one.

Actually, Bender from "Futurama" was a bit of an influence on the design for Anne-8, particularly in the head. :)

Is "Opey" a reference to P.O.E. (Peace on Earth / Purity of Essence), the password used in Stanley Kubrik's "Doctor Strangelove"?

No, though that particular reference would have been a clever one, considering the subject matter of that film.

Opey is a reference to "Oppenheimer", the man who worked on the Manhattan Project and helped build the first atomic bomb.

Wow, his "mom" has a pretty masculine body despite the breasts hahaha. I like this webcomic. Good job.

Thanks for reading Opey. Yeah, Opey's "mom" is actually rather agressive and tougher than her husband, as shall be revealed a little later in the comic.

I really dont know if Opey is full of feeling or is actually just thinking his mother is too dumb

Thank you very much! Linework and detail is my obsession (if not my biggest flaw). :)

Welcome. ^^ Itīs not! Believe me, that Iīve seen (and made) all the possible flaws that can be done when developing own style. Yours is just original and it doesnīt even bother the eye (which happens with some other styles.)

Thank you for the comment. The pipe in Opey's dad's mouth never leaves his face. It's almost part of his personality. :)

Thank you! I'm hoping to produce a new page every week. I envision "Opey the Warhead", unlike "Only Human", to be an ongoing series.

you can 'see' the expression on his 'face' when he sits at the table.. so full of emotion.. without a line. :)

Thanks!

It's really hard to bring expression to a character who has no face (how does that thing eat?), so I try to make his hands and body language do the expressing of his emotions. I like to think of Opey as the world's most human weapon of mass destruction.

How he eats.. let me think.. how about he opens the cone of the warhead?
